This is a full-time position critical to achieving long-term objectives in accomplishing an environment of justice and care for child victims of commercial sexual exploitation. 
FUNCTION:
Directs overall management and coordination of strategy for media and public awareness in order to support Shared Hope International's vision, mission and values, as well as to raise the local, regional, national and international visibility. Works with the leadership team in the development of a national grass roots awareness and activist campaign to provide visibility to the issue of sex trafficking. 
Shared Hope International launched a National Public Awareness Campaign based on the finding of our research on Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking in the USA. This began with the release of The National Report on June 12, 2009 at a vigil in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be followed in September by the release of a book focused on the prostituting of American children, titled Renting Lacy, published July , 2009. The Media Relations and Communications Specialist position will lead the marketing of our campaign, including the release of Renting Lacy. Demonstrated experience and ability in cold-calling producers of national television and radio shows, as well as editors/writers with national print media, is required. A high proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Photoshop, In Design, Illustrator or publishing software is also required. Video editing experience is a necessity in order to produce and edit press clips and short video productions.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES: 
1.	Manages and coordinates communication strategy to align with the organization's goals. 
2.	Develops media projects and coordinates outreach methods related to Shared Hope International's partner programs, achievements and other news. 
3.	Leads the development and execution of all strategy concerning public relation activities surrounding Shared Hope International initiatives and programs. 
4.	Supports the President with media specific information necessary for speaking engagements, news releases and press conferences. 
5.	Develops and manages multimedia material necessary for communicating Shared Hope International's image, ensuring branding and messaging is consistent throughout. This includes printed media, website, blogs and e-newsletters. 
6.	Prepares external communication methods, such as press releases, media advisories, talking points, letters to the editor, press kits, etc. 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.	Concern for women in crisis and the eradication of sexual slavery. 
2.	Bachelors Degree in related fields. 
3.	3+years in communication, promotion, marketing and public relations related to media communications. Demonstrated experience building communication and promotion strategy, media relations, garnering press coverage and messaging. 
4.	Professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal and public communication skills. 
5.	Excellent written, editing and oral skills. Capable of strategic thinking and developing complex ideas. 
6.	High proficiency in computer programs including HTML, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Photoshop, Illustrator or publishing software. 
7.	High proficiency in video production skills. 
8.	Strong detail-oriented and organizational skills. 
9.	Self-motivated, independent worker capable of working on a deadline. 
10.	Able to work on a team as a trustworthy member. 
11.	Able to travel as needed.
